Danger Coffee Review

Coffee is one of my best vices. We usually don’t do coffee reviews, focussing more on coffee alternatives, but thought it necessary with the with the introduction of the biohacker inspired Danger Coffee from Dave Asprey.

Having been through my fair share of coffee beans, coffee highs and coffee withdrawals, I thought I’d better wrap my head around what makes Danger Coffee any different, here’s my Danger Coffee review.

Why Danger Coffee Is Good

To be honest, I like most coffee, it just needs to be served black or with a generous serving of butter. But, when you tell me about coffee that offers the usual perks with some supercharges variations my ears prick up.

Danger Coffee is essentially roasted coffee that has been remineralised with 50 trace elements and minerals.

Danger Coffee takes a lab tested coffee from Central America and puts the beans through a process of remineralisation with plant minerals Fulvic and Humic acid.

The idea behind the patented remineralisation process Danger Coffee beans go through is that it makes it more than just your average cup of joe.

Danger Coffee is designed to add to your health, not take away from it, by encouraging the remineralisation and bioavailability of more than 50 trace minerals and electrolytes.

Not only that, it’s also thought that the usual processing of coffee beans makes most coffee highly susceptible to toxic mould growth, which you them consume.

Danger Coffee, is third-party lab tested to be free of mould toxins, in a way that exceeds industry standards.

Now this is all great, but what’s the final result in terms of coffee experience.

My Danger Coffee Experience

One thing I’ve figured out is that I am personally quite sensitive to caffeine. Too much (more than 2 cups) in a day gives me mad anxiety and jitters – energy I can’t seem to use effectively.

This a problem for a lot of people, and it’s good to explore coffee alternatives and set strong coffee boundaries around consumption.

I have a drop dead cut off time of 12pm for last coffee, which gives a good buffer for still being able to sleep properly – according to my Whoop strap anyway.

Firstly, if you are someone who is pretty serious on a good long black coffee, you will recognise the smell of quality beans, and that is the first thing to waft up the nose when you open Danger Coffee.

I tried the Medium Roast ground coffee, and tested out the brew over a week in both the standard French Press as well as in my V60 Pour over. I usually opt for a Dark Roast, but the Danger Coffee Medium Roast feels pretty strong, and seemed more suited to the French Press in my opinion.

Taste wise, I found there was zero bitterness, which was to be expected with quality beans like this just brewed in a French press. There was a nice, light, sweet flavour and nothing overbearing. I used 3 tablespoon scoops in about 500ml of water in the French press which seemed to be a pretty good serving size to be quite strong.

Did I notice anything different about the overall feel of the Danger Coffee vs other roasted coffees beans I usually have? Not a whole lot, although I did get this sense that one coffee was enough, and didn’t really get that burning desire for coffee number two, which seems to come at about 10am, which maybe says something about the quality of the coffee.

I suppose the benefits of the product are hidden among the actually processes and quality control that the Danger Coffee beans go through, and is more a case of NOT experiences some random skin related issue like eczema down that track that you didn’t know was from the toxic mould from your usual coffee beans.

Danger Coffee Price

Danger Coffee is $24.95USD for a 310g bag of Whole Beans or Ground coffee. Sure, this is a little more expensive than your average 500g bag of coffee, which is generally around $20-$25.

If coffee is just a take it or leave it for you, or you don’t really care too much of the flavour and quality, Danger Coffee is probably not for you.

But, if you would rather toss an almost full bag off coffee beans in the bin because it doesn’t cut the mustard and buy a new one sort of person, you might want to consider paying the extra $10 or so dollars to try out the single-O delight, with industry leading testing standards.

I definitely chewed through the 310g bag quite quickly with my serving size, which could become an expensive ordeal, luckily they offer a slight discount for a subscription based order.

In terms of shipping, order over $65 get free shipping, or extra charges are calculated based on your zip. Unfortunately, if you’re a coffee lover in Australia, you’ll have to stick to your regular as Danger Coffee doesn’t yet ship to Australia. You could, of course, opt for Dave Asprey’s OG Bulletproof Coffee instead.

Final Word on Danger Coffee

Overall, I can honestly say the Danger Coffee is actually some of the best bagged, pre-ground coffee I’ve had. Despite the price being a little higher, as someone who regularly goes all out on other wellness related products and hacks, I’m happy to make a new spot for Danger Coffee on the morning brew station.

If you are going to use Danger Coffee, opt for a brewing in a French Press, as it didn’t really work in my coffee machine. Although, you could always opt for the Danger Coffee Beans and set your grind to suit your own machine.

Experimenting with different brewing methods and coffee preparations can enhance the overall experience and enjoyment of Danger Coffee, allowing you to tailor it to your personal taste preferences and brewing equipment.

Happy brewing!
